Function is looking for a 3rd Year Photography Intern

Function is looking for a 3rd year Photography
student to become the Function vol. 12 intern.


The duration of the internship will be November 2010 to May 2011.

Candidates who possess an enthusiasm to learn the process of publishing a fine arts magazine and who wish to work within a creative and challenging environment are encouraged to apply. The intern will work closely with the editorial team to provide support with, but not restricted to, fundraising, outreach initiatives, liaising with professionals and the public, coordinating special events and office administration. Some physical work may also be required.

Requirements:
- A strong knowledge of contemporary art
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Basic accounting skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience with Apple computer systems and basic office programs including database software, spreadsheets and word processing programs
- Experience painting, handling artwork, installing artwork


Hours will be typically 5 hours a week in the fall semester and increased hours in the winter semester.
The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

October Zine Submissions

Now accepting submissions for the October issue of the FUNCTION zine.
We are accepting photography, film, and new media works.

Deadline is October 22th (not the 25th)

Maximum of 5 submissions per person.

In your email please include: name, title of piece(s), program, and a link to your work (if available).

Submit all submissions to functionzine@gmail.com

See below for requirements.

Photography Requirements:
maximum height: 8.5 inches
maximum width: 5 inches
minimum DPI: 200

Film Requirements:
Films will be showcased on the upcoming FUNCTION website.
May be hosted on Youtube, Vimeo, or other such sites. Provide a link in your email.
There are no time restrictions on length, but please be reasonable.
FUNCTION is able to provide hosting, but it is up to you to present your work to the FUNCTION team in a format that can be easily streamed.

New Media Requirements:
New Media works will be showcased on the upcoming FUNCTION website.
Java(Processing) files, Flash files, and other commonly used formats are accepted.
If your piece is already hosted on a server, provide said link in your email.
FUNCTION is able to provide hosting, but it is up to you to present your work to the FUNCTION team.

Yester-Year Sale and Last Year's Volume Pick UP - OCT.6


Attention Image Arts Students:
If you have not picked up your copy of last year's volume, FUNCTION will be in the main entrance of the VIC building from 12-3 on Thursday OCT.6 handing them out to those who did not receive a copy.

We will be selling previous volumes along with some of the old zines. Feel free to pick up a few issues;

All Other Volumes: $10 (or 3 for $20!)

After many hours and endless nights of unpaid hard work, function magazine is very proud to present the long awaited and much anticipated volume 11.This year we have have pushed function into limitless heights (including our first exhibition) that all of our participants and volunteers should be proud of...

Which is why we also need to throw a completely kick-ass launch party that EVERYBODY needs to start their summer off by attending!

So we present to you a launch party like never before:

Featuring DataStalker a.k.a. Peter Venuto, a totally wicked and local interactive electronic artist who will be VJing his Trashlites ! ! ! ! !

Peter is one of many artists featured in Volume 11 of Function, which will be available for the first time at this event!

Copies of DataStalker's 2 most recent releases: "You Are Tomorrow Outside Your Mind" and "Let Me Be Your Phantasy" will be available at the event!

thanks for such a successful show! we are really happy with the turnout and the results :)

please make sure to pick up ur work from the gallery as soon as next monday april 12th to thursday april 15th between 12 and 4pm. ur work will be up against the walls.
