Zine 11.2 Submissions

This time around we know it is crunch time for the end of the term and we are really interested your ideas, your thoughts, your contact sheets, story boards, film stills, your editing process, etc...

Here are the guidlines:

-files must be 1100 pixels high and maximum 2550 pixels wide
-300dpi
-files labeled firstname_lastname_01.jpg
-maximum 5 submissions, minimum 2 in black and white or colour
-in email please indicate yourname, title, where the image was shot (Mickey Nielsen, untitled, NYC, USA.)
-also an email contact or website you wish to have on the contributors page.

Deadline: November 20th via functionmag@gmail.com

October Zine Submissions !

This year function will be releasing a new zine every month until the launch of function in April. We are looking for any and all types of 2-dimensional work for print related to your summer. We are interested in sharing what everyone was doing on our time away from IMA.

APRIL 16TH EVENTS!

On April 16th, so many amazing events are happening in the city!

FUNCTION is launching it's 10th Anniversary issue! On April 16th, the Art Bar at the Gladstone Hotel will be the venue of choice for this amazing event.
Magazines, both current and past, will be available for sale, and of course, Image Arts students receive Function for FREE! So come by and show your support and pick up a copy of the new mag!

Maximum Exposure is having their annual exhibition. This year it will be held at the Gladstone Hotel and Lennox Contemporary. The exhibition is taking place from April 16th-19th. Check out their website http://www.maxex.ca

META: 4th Year New Media Exhibition is taking place at the Burroughes Building at 639 Queen Street West from April 16th-18th. Come check out some of Toronto's most innovative works! Gallery hours are Thursday 5pm-9pm, Friday 12pm-6pm, Saturday 12pm-6pm. Check http://www.METAart.ca for details.

FUNCTION MAGAZINE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES 2009

Please read carefully:

ALL work must be submitted on a CD or DVD with your full name, program and year on it . 

To be considered for publication in the magazine submit your work on or before February 6th 

2009. To be considered for publication on the DVD submit your work on or before February 

27th 2009. The drop off box, marked “function submissions”, is located in the IMA office. 

Include a .doc file on the CD/DVD with the following information: full name, year of study, 

program, email address & website address. If you would like to include an artist statement (it is OPTIONAL), please include it with this document as well.

Images 

1. All images must be CMYK 

2. Include both hi-resolution and low-resolution versions of ALL your images. 

3. Hi resolution images must be in TIFF format, 300dpi. 

Name the hi-res files: lastname_hires_titleofthephotograph.tif 

ex. sherman_hires_untitledfilmstillfive.tif 

4. Low-res images can be JPEG or TIFF format, 72dpi. 

Name the low-res files: lastname_lowres_titleofthephotograph.jpg 

ex. sherman_lowres_untitledfilmstillfive .jpg 

Text 

All text documents must be in .doc format. 

Videos + Music 

1. ALL videos must be H.264 Quicktime files submitted as DATA either on a DVD or a data 

disc. 

2. Music files must be in .aiff .mp3 or .wav format.

The Zine deadline has been extended until this Friday, January 16th. Get your submissions in! What we've seen so far looks great. This is the last printed publication until the real deal aka FUNCTION MAGAZINE & DVD. Keep on the lookout for posters and blog posts about submissions for that...

ZINE #2 Submissions!

Function Magazine is putting together another zine for the second semester, and we're looking for your work! The zines are essentially miniature versions of the year end publication. This is a great opportunity to get your work out there and participate in Function!

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: JANUARY 12, 2009

The zine is looking for:
-Images (photographs, photo-based work, mixed media, sketches, film/video stills, and new media documentation etc.)
-Text (artist statements, poetry, prose, short stories, etc.)
Here are the specifics:
Work can be submitted via e-mail. Send your submissions to funtionmag@gmail.com with "ZINE SUBMISSION" in the subject line.

Your submission must contain:
-No more than 5 images and/or text
-Images must be jpeg files, 300 DPI and no more than 3000 pixels at the longest side
-Image files must be labeled with your full name, and numbered. ie: firstname_lastname01.jpg, firstname_lastname02.jpg, etc.,
-Text submissions must be saved as a Word document, with a .doc extension
-Text submissions must be labeled with your full name, and numbered. ie: firstname_lanstname01.doc, etc.,
Your submission must include your name, program and year in your e-mail.
(Please note that the zine will be printed in black and white, but we
welcome both black and white and color images.)
